Ankita began studying kathak at a tender age of 5 at Bhilai, Chhattisgarh from Shrimati Upasana Tiwari. She holds a Master’s degree in Kathak with distinction, formally known as Visharad with “Vishesh Yogyata”. Ankita has trained for over 15 years in the Lucknow and Jaipur gharana style of kathak. She attended several workshops from the Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj ji and Padma Shri Kumudini Lakhia ji.
Ankita’s desire to present Kathak to a wide audience has taken her to stages across India and USA. She has won over 25 national level dance competitions. She was the winner of Sony Entertainment Television’s popular dance show Boogie Woogie, for the year 2009. In 2014, she was one of Top 30 finalists of Zee TV Reality show, Zee CineStars Ki Khoj.
